The 'BiOME Nature' wildlife viewing hide, located at the Massu niidud on the southern edge of Matsalu National Park in western Estonia, provides nature lovers with the opportunity to experience fantastic wildlife from the comfort of our specifically built log cabin.
Since 2012 we have been conducting wildlife monitoring at our 9 hectare, privately-owned, nature reserve to find out what animals are present at the site. One of our key projects is our revolutionary use of attractants to entice Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx) to the reserve. Following 15 months of trials we finally accomplished our dream! At least one Eurasian Lynx now calls the reserve its home and is regularly recorded, with many daytime sightings! To our knowledge, the reserve represents the only opportunity anywhere in the world to observe, with any degree of regularity, this highly elusive species from a purpose-built hide.
Other Regularly Occurring Species
The reserve is home to a staggering 25+ mammal species including regular sightings of Elk (Alces alces), Wild Boar (Sus scrofa), Roe Deer (Capreolus capreolus) and Raccoon Dog (Nyctereutes procyonoids). In addition, Pine Marten (Martes martes), Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris), and Badger (Meles meles) are also frequently observed.

Please note that the reserve is located on private land and any access to it must be pre-arranged via the contact page.
